Flip flops, shorts, wellies, rain coats and Sunshine and Rain!...All in one day!?!.
Yes! there is a pattern and i'm sensing another wet summer ahead!.
Flash flooding and hose pipe bans. Well, there is trying to be positive but i've kinda given up!.
I'm starting to get confused about what season we are in and what to wear.
So, yep! the school run was a wet one. I say wet, but actually it couldn't get much wetter!.
The funny, well, not really funny thing is that I was wearing shorts and flip flops in the morning and was so very hot on my food shopping trip...least I made it home before the heavens opened. But the school run was a different story!!!!!!!!- soaked is putting it lightly. Least I brought a magazine to cheer me up from the comfort of indoors...Sweet pea's got a new liking to warm milk with a hint of sugar and especially when mummy puts it in an old milk bottle...When Sweet pea was much younger dairy products would give her nasty, scratchy rashes all over...but as she's got older her skins improved greatly and i'm letting her have more milk. I think calcium's important for bone developments. And as she hates cheese i'm glad she likes milk. Its a joy to have something warm after getting soaked!...
During the half term I brought the Mollie Makes magazine. Now, i must confess the price tag usually puts me off...and i haven't brought it for a few months, But being a 'simple crafter', I liked the idea of an easy peasy make. The princess and the pea make caught my eye...and i was sold.
Warm milk and making a little princess -what could be more appealing on a wet evening?...
We've also been reading some of our vintage 'Jane And Peter' Ladybird books.
I was also overjoyed to see I'd won JellyJams giveaway...she is so talented and i love the vintage fabrics she makes lovely things out of, Do check out her lovely blog!.

Despite the rain i feel a 'summer' in my step! hehe,

Warm milk sounds very appealing to me right now - it's cold and our heating is playing up!
ReplyDeleteWarm milk in a milk bottle sounds yummy! I'm with you on the Mollie Makes price tag and the magazine definitely isn't worth it. I haven't bought it since about issue 5 but I love the Princess and the Pea make! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteDon't like being soggy in summer ... even wore my coat in work today! Hubby has just told me it's getting better towards the end of the week. We live in hope!
ReplyDeleteLove your little Princess make. M x
I spied that little princess too - she does look ever so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI've given up with the flip flops - even around the house - the heating is on and we are all wrapped up in our Winter woollies. Trust me to pack away my Winter clothes last week.....numpty!

I have just posted that I think the sun is having a gap year on the other side of the Gulf stream....I can't believe the weather and i can't stand it either.I think warm milk is the order of the day,I remeber drinking warm milk on a caravan holiday with my Nan and great Aunt Polly. It was a rainsoaked week and I don't think we left the caravan very muchjust to stock up on Tunnocks and Heinz tomato soup.My brother and I each packed our most treasured toys in a little brown suitcase and spent all week playing I-spy,Old Maid and snakes and ladders Happy days....sorry this comment has just turned into a post.

Comment box gone yet again...Sigh...
DeleteBeautiful banner Kazzy! Your blog looks always so inviting, I am ready to 'step in' the picture!
You have described the Pacific NW coastline weather to a 'T'! What happen to the seasons we used to have?
Still, a big hello from our SUNNY island (at least for today! Weather predictions calls for cloudy this afternoon with 30% chance of rain, rain on Tuesday with possible showers in the afternoon????)
Flip-flops on, wellies standing in the hallway...
I am sat here with freezzzing hands! lol I really am hoping for better weather it is so much easier when the sun shines to get motivated to get things done I fine.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I have not brought the Mollie Makes mag for ages. I started to find the nearly £5 price tag a lot for what amounts to lots of pretty pictures I found. Although that said I do like your dolly she is gorgeous! No wonder you had fun making her.
Congratulations on your great win. What a lovely cushion.
Hope you are nice dry and warm now.

Hiya Kazzy,

Your blog is a wonderful visual delight...
Congratulations on your splendid win too!

Never have I worn my anorak so much in 'summer' - least its a flowery one and clashes with my dresses!!
ReplyDeleteHoping the sandals might get a day of use sometime this week - it seems wrong to be wearing socks in June!!
I love your princess make! I've not seen that issue yet, I don't buy them all just the ones that have something I want in they are very pricy!
ReplyDeleteI love the milk in the bottle idea that so took me back to my school days, I was milk monitor (swot!) and handed out all the little bottles and wax straws, wish I'd had the foresight to snaffle a few back then in the 70's! xx
Congratulations on winning Jelly Jam's giveaway! Fed up of the rain stopping play too! Hope it turns out fine soon, Claire xxx ps, live the Princess!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on winning that gorgeous cushion. I think Mollie Makes is bit pricey so I only buy the odd one but I might have to have a look at that one,the only trouble is I've never made a doll before as I can't imagine what the face would turn out like, I'm hopeless at drawing!! Lucey xx
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the sweet cushion! I enjoy reading Mollie Makes, but I agree the price is high, especially being in the states. It is always hard to say no, though! The doll is so cute. Wishing many days of sunshine this summer!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your win! What a stunner! It's blooming wet, cold and soggy here this morning....boots weather in June!? Warm milk out of a dinky bottle... what bliss :) looking forward to seeing your little doll :)

ReplyDeleteJulie xxxxxxxx
What a cute dolly!
DeleteI do the very same for my 7-year old son - make him hot milk with honey or chocolate after school - because he won't eat cheese either :)
We're having strange weather here too...freezing cold in the house, outside rainy and warm...at least it looks very cozy in your little nest
have a lovely day!
xo karen
Yes, hasn't it sure been an odd mix lately weather wise..I am hoping that the rest of the summer will bring more sunshine (less rain!).
ReplyDeleteThe warm milk with a bit of sugar, sounds perfect right about now.
I just love the story of the princess and the pea. The little princess is so cute. I like the different layers of bedsheets on the magazine cover as well.
Congrats on winning the give away!

Such gorgeous photos and you make the rain sound quite nice and summery rather than grey and miserable like it is here!

ReplyDeleteYour little princess make is very pretty. I treated my daughter to Mollie Makes this week after she finished her exams. Let's hope the weather brightens up this weekend, though I won't be holding my breath!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Devon and I have a lot of memories of getting soaked after school. It is wonderfully beautiful though so I have leant to forgive it for its unpredictable weather. I love the princess, and the blog (it is new to me, i've been having a good look through) I hope some sunshine finds its way to you soon. - Annie
ReplyDeleteThat little princess craft is so cute! And the weather is disappointing at the moment, especially as it's usually so warm in June by now. xxx
