After another soggy School run I hopped onto the ferry boat and went for a jolly good walk in the woods.
I have missed my walks. Its my only way to clear the strains and worries on my frazzled brain sometimes...
I used to find walking in remote area's a bit daunting and its always good to have company. But the more you do things alone the easier it gets...And actually I do love that feeling of being by myself to think and explore and only hear the sounds of tree's swaying in the breeze , bird songs, snapping twigs and foliage beneath my feet and the sea crashing over the pebbled shore. Such a peaceful, perfect sound. Suddenly, all those worries and strains are long forgotten and you just see nature before your eyes.
Its always nice to go at your own speed, I am one to look at everything...and one of the school Mummy's came for a walk with me and she almost jogged the entire walk. I felt like we were on a time limit and I was out of breath trying to keep up with conversation at such speed. My fast walking is the walk to the ferry its about 35 minutes from my house, So I power walk through the city...quite happy to walk fast through the built up housing and main road sounds...but when I'm in the country Its nice to take my time over it.
The best bit in the woods is this picture...Its where the path opens up and I love to gaze across for a few moments in time. Its the perfect view in my eyes.
All the foxgloves in the clearing of the woods.
The old ferry boat station. I love this clock.
The wild flowers are actually from a little nature plot of land in the middle of the city- They have grown lots of wild flowers there this July and it looks so beautiful- all the colours!.
After another soggy School run , we are now in snuggly dressing gowns and drinking Pink milk.
Yum!!!!.
This week seems to be dragging, sweet pea's tired and I think we want Friday to hop along quickly!.
Its going to be a busy Summer wet Holiday as it will be juggling between families and Sweet pea having a week with her father and rented cottage holiday for us too...So I wish you all a fabby time and hope to see you in another post in the holidays.

P.s Thank you to Lesley who kindly sent me these lovely vintage tea towels.

Hi Kazzy!
ReplyDeleteYou are very wise to clear your head out in the woods and I think the sea is so restorative. My heart sings when I am near the sea.
I hope your holiday time period is peaceful.
I like to wander in the woods to be on my own and clear my head.Hope you have a happy time while little sweetpea is off school.Love Jill xx
ReplyDeleteYour woods are so pretty and green, love all the flowers, especially the purple! Oh and the foxgloves are gorgeous, I have tried to grow them where I live but to no avail! Pink milk looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteYou've helped unfrazzle my head after looking at all your wonderful photos. Walking is definitely a good way to unwind and relax although I'm sure it would be better still with some sunshine (by all accounts we have some coming this weekend but don't hold your breath)! I love the wildflower patch and the amazing ferry clock. Hope Sweet pea makes it to the end of the week. It's always a tiring time when the school year comes to an end but lets hope we get some sunshine for the holidays and don't have to set the alarm clock too often!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures really show the beauty of the woods - absolutely gorgeous. I love foxgloves and the wildflower patch is stunning! Bee x
ReplyDeleteHope you both have a lovely summer break. I like walking alone too but I am a always a little nervous. I wish I could just go for it but I keep thinking about weirdos etc and then I end up not going. Well done for doing it. Lily. xxx

ReplyDeleteKazzy you live in a beautiful part of the country, the weather is supposed to be getting better so fingers crossed! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteHI Kazzy do take care walking alone - I like walking in the woods but always borrow my friends dogs or most recently have joined as a volunteer for the local dogs home the other side of my woods and walk their dogs which is very reassuring as some of them are a little bitey/aggressive I know they will protect me. I love the wild flower patch you have found in your town - cornflowers are so rarely seen. I hope you enjoy your holiday - I think we are going to have a late, hot Summer in September and have my hopes on it. Betty x
ReplyDeleteDefinately not a walk to be hurried - I love the pic of all the wild flowers - an upside to all these damp days this 'summer'.
ReplyDeleteHope the weather improves for the school hols and you & sweetpea have a good holiday :)
Such a brilliant set of photos.I know what you mean about standing and staring. That's why I prefer to walk at my own pace and to still have a sense of wonderment about nature in all it's glory.Have a great holiday.

Hi Kazzy! How lovely for you to have somewhere to beautiful to explore! It is definitely not a walk that you want to hurry! x
ReplyDeleteSo lovely Kazzy, you need time to stand and stare, It is the only way I can function, I need to be out in the midst of nature to think, hope you have a great holiday together

Such lovely nature shots ^_^
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
Gorgeous photos, as ever. I like being able to go at my own pace too. Sometimes it's nice to have company while out on one of my bike rides but it does make me feel inhibited to stop and admire the views and take photo, which is one of the main reasons I go out cycling after all!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful woods, and wild flowers!! Thanks for taking us along! Your pink milk looks tasty!! Have a lovely rest of the week! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteIt's like a dream. Beautiful and refreshing post!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect walk and I agree with you not to be hurried. Strange isn't how some mums at school do have this nerous got to rush attitude. I have one friend who doesn't work, but finds it hard to even relax for one second for a conversation.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for a bit more dry over the next few weeks hey.

What beautiful scenery and so lucky to have a woods and the seaside close by. I only have the seaside...Happy week, summer is apparently on it's way! Sharon
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'm with you Kazzy, never hurry a beautiful nature inspired walk! I love love the wild flower meadow picture, I just want to lie down in it and chew a long grass stem and watch the clouds float by. Thanks for all these stunning pics and wishing you and your sweetpea a memorable summer time together xox Penelope xox
ReplyDeleteps. I've just posted about a fun idea for children to do with Tea towels... xox
DeleteI love getting outside for a long walk...pink milk sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the wild flowers. I miss long country walks now that i'm living in a busy city, it's not really the same driving to the country for a walk.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has recently got into Charlie and Lola and keeps asking for pink milk. I might just give in and buy her some!
Hope you have a fab summer. x
I love going on your walks too and cannot understand the need to rush when there is so much to see and hear. Thank you for your beautiful photos. Pink milk is enjoyed here too by my boys. Hope you both have a wonderful summer and can share what you do with us all. Karen Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the uplifting post and beautiful pictures! I also love going on walks in the forest by myself and can't get enough of the birdsong and wind in the trees. I'm glad to know there are more people like this out there :) Sarah
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures, and I love how you describe your walks so perfectly, it's as if I've come along too! I like to stop and look sometimes too, that's part of the pleasure of being in the country isn't it? I do walk faster on streets and pavements but that's a different kind of walk :) I hope you and Sweetpea have a lovely summer holiday now that tomorrow is nearly here. No more school runs in the rain for a while, Kazzy :) Have fun!

Hi Kazzy,
ReplyDeleteI am familiar with where you have walked after taking the ferry, so it is even more wonderful to see your pictures. I am wary of walking in the country on my own. My friend is a teacher and always feels that the last week is difficult as the children are so tired and just need their holidays. Hope Friday arrives quickly and you have a great summer holiday with Sweetpea.

Love those wild floweres. How nice to find them in the town.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your hols. Look forward to reading what you get up to.

'hello!'
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to pop in quickly and say hi, but kind of got caught up in your pictures. I love them all and the woods give me that big breath of fresh air - far more then the sea if I'm honest. You live in such a beautiful place (where are you if I may ask).

Wonderful photos! xxx
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so refreshing! I feel inspired to go for a walk and clear my head right now... Although, if I went this very minute my five boys would somewhat hinder the peaceful atmosphere I'd be craving!! I hope you enjoy the holidays with your lovely Sweetpea. Fingers crossed for at least a few days of sunshine :)
ReplyDeleteTake care xx

Hi Kazzy, I've awarded you the Kreativ Blogger award, please pop on over to mine to collect it! Have a lovely weekend. Sharon :)
ReplyDeleteAfter gazing at your photos I feel like I've been on a walk in your beautiful woods! I live in a wooded area, but I don't get out and walk like I should. Sometimes we take for granted what is right outside our door! Have a great vacation with Sweetpea. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely post.....loved going on a woodland walk with you, felt like I was right there. Especially loved the photo of the purple foxgloves - gorgeous!

Gorgeous gorgeous photo's... it looks like you had a really lovely walk in the woods. These day's I don't get much peace and quiet when out walking, unless it's Rose's nap time and I really enjoy the silence. :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been rubbish at commenting on your blog recently.. I always enjoy reading it.

Hello Kazzy,
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering if Blogger is playing funny games with me again. It says you posted 'Blue Skies' a day ago but I cannot see it. Very mysterious ;-)
I hope you are well and happy and enjoying the start of your summer hols.
Stephanie
Hello Kazzy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beautiful photos which bring back fond memories of how I used to like wandering through the woods on my own with my dog down in Somerset. There's nothing like it....a good book ...a sandwich or two and a bottle of pop and the rest I received from the woods...so peaceful and relaxing that is until some busybody told my Dad that I was always going off on my own and Dad cut it short tch!!!
Ok so its my turn now and this message is also to let you know I've a giveaway on the go and its open to everyone....pop in when you can :-)
Keep well
Amanda :-)
