Its been a rather hectic week. Getting back in the swing of school runs, endless amounts of paperwork and emotional baggage, so in true Kazzy style I just needed a good ramble in the Country side and leave all those headaches behind. Well, for a few hours anyway.
So, Off to the Woodlands we headed... Sweet pea with my pocket guide to Mushrooms & myself with a basket for foraging. Its a wonderful time for blackberries. I think all that vital last September Sunshine has really helped. All is fruitful and ripe for the picking!, but leaving some behind for the Wildlife of course!.
Not many ended up in the basket and we both had red lips!...pleasures!.
Sweet pea wood combing...
Where the woodlands opened and the sun rays lit the meadow field there in in between the wild land were huge spider webs reaching as far as the eye could see...lots and lots of webs!.
Back on the nature trail we headed towards the Country House and Gardens.
...every step of blissful Country woodland...and a little wooden bench to stop and listen and take it all in.
Fruits from our labor...
The warming September sun...
I think there is nothing better than the Country side to spend time with your children...
Adventures begin at every part...
The calling sounds of the birds, the rustles in the hedgerows, the swaying branches, the cracking of woodland twigs beneath your feet, exploring for mushrooms and wild berries...it opens up your childs imagination and learning through fun...also a great source of exercise!. There's nothing better in my book.
It helps me escape from the stresses and strains of modern living...
enjoy your peaceful Sunday,
x Kazzy x

You had a super time fromthe looks of things. We too were in our local woods yesterday - and I agreee about how times spent there really help as a coping strategy with all the rubbish that life can throw at us.
ReplyDeleteBlackberries not quite ready here yet - we are further north than you. But looks like there will be some pretty soon. Will then have to smile sweetly at my BFF to scrounge some apples from her trees...;)

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post your basket looks so much better than my plastic pots and bags when I am foraging for blackberries. Hope your stroll in the woods helped you.

Beautiful post! The blackberries look delicious

Oh, now I want to go for a walk! You're so right about the difference between the work-a-day world and nature. I've been too busy in the world, lately.
ReplyDeleteI like the looks of that pocket toadstool book!
What a lovely time you both had! Your pictures are beautiful and capture early autumn for us 'townies'!! I was in your neck of the woods one day last week, on the train down I passed a field covered in, presumably, dead thistles, but each one was covered with the most amazing cobwebs that were jewelled with dew drops. It was the most amazingly stunning sight I have ever seen!! My thoughts were with you as I walked up from the station! Hope you are rising above your troubles. Love Heather
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes and those cobwebs look amazing! Enjoy what's left of your weekend! x
ReplyDeleteOooh just beautiful Kazzy - what gorgeous pictures and you've summed up the turning year wonderfully. A country stroll is the best therapy ever in my book too. Lovely shoes I agree!
ReplyDeleteYour new header is unbelievably cosy and inviitng - i love it. The sun's gone in here now, time to look out my autumny favourite things I think - thanks for inspiring me.

Every time I feel overwhelmed I head for some nature too. Its so restorative and there are always surprises. Like your enormous spiderwebs and big feather. All that grandness seems to put everything in the right perspective. Looks like the perfect place to meander too

Gorgeous pictures Kazzy. sweet Pea is a lucky little girl growing up with all these nature walks. Those are the highlights of my own childhood.
ReplyDeleteDarn, you've reminded me we've got oodles of blackberries in the fridge and I promised my youngest we'd make jam today. Can I fit in making dinner, jam and bathtime before bed at 7pm...? Hmm probably too ambitious.

Great to escape and get fresh air x
ReplyDeleteHi Kazzy,
ReplyDeleteYour post has an 'autumn feel' to it. It must be the darkness of your photo's, the spider webs and brambles! Your country walk with sweet pea looks & sounds lovely.
Happy new week,
Madelief x
Sounds like a perfect outing! I wish we had more woodland nearby that we could stroll to, but I should make more of an effort! x
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful post Kazzy, you have such a gift with photography and words. I read your last two posts and I'm so sorry that things are so difficult for you at the moment. You deserve so much happiness, you are such a special mum and you bring so much joy to people through your blog posts (including me) I am really hoping that things will get easier for you and that you and sweet pea can have the peace you deserve. In the mean time, thank god for nature :)

ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with what you write about being in the country, well-said! And as always, lovely lovely photos! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThe woods are our most favourite place to visit, I always find them so peaceful xx
ReplyDeleteWe went gathering berries yesterday, although we did manage to get some they weren't exactly plump and juicy!
ReplyDeleteWe made some lovely muffins with them too. With chocolate chips, what a great combo!
I'm glad you found one of those little rabbit lights, he is so cute isn't he.

What lovely autumn photos..... we haven't got too many black berries here this year, all the rain I think. Just wanted to say good luck with all thats going on, I have been through the same thing, when Tommy was little, he's now 18 and about to leave home, it all turned out fine in the end, but I do feel for you. sending a hug
ReplyDeletelove sophie xx
I went blackberry picking yesterday in the field behind our house, so overgrown, hardly anyone ventures there and I love it. Your photos are very evocative. It is a really special time of year and balm to the soul.
ReplyDeleteBeing outdoors is so refreshing! Love blackberries, in our last home, we had huge, plump, sweet blackberries all over our property, I do miss them! Enjoy your time with your beautiful and sweet daughter!!
ReplyDeleteOnly discovered your blog today and just wanted to say hello! I'm also a 'Kazzy' (my dad's name for me). What a beautiful blog, I've enjoyed looking round and seeing the world through your eyes x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Kazzy! Whenever I'm in the woods, I think of naturalist John Burroughs who said "To find new things, take the path you took yesterday"
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Kazzy! Love your blog, love this post!
ReplyDeleteI love the title and the pictures, they are so evocative and atmospheric! I love the woods, they are without a shadow of a doubt my "happy place" and take me straight back to how fairy tales made me feel as a little girl.
ReplyDeleteI love looking for blackberries....and eating them!
