On Saturday I met up with my lovely Mother and my Twinny and her bump!...It had felt like I hadn't been outside the house for a whole Month!~ Fighting off blooming bugs and being nurse maid to sick little'n's...So it was nice to have an outing to my beloved Tavistock and visit the Market, little shops and the 'Vintage & Textile Fair'~ The Homes & Antiques magazine was there with a lot of the lovely vintage goods used in photoshoots...Also I enjoyed some of the textile art by Teresa Dunne, (as seen below) very inspiring!!...
I did a degree in Printed Textile design and Surface decoration and over the years i've lost that creative flair to make things out of bits of fabric, sew and stitch...and I spend more spare bits of time doodling in pen and ink...But after having a very inspiring day it made me want to get back into what I used to love doing.
Life takes over some days and I barely have time to think about being creative...But I must start getting back into it and find my passion for it again.
I brought some lovely bundles of fabric at the Haberdashery 30% off too...Its got me all creative on this bright Sunday Morning...
The display cabinet below was a real find in the Charity Shop in Tavistock, only 2 quid!!!!
So my first little making session has been cutting sweet floral fabrics and gluing them into the display cabinet.
I was going to paint the cabinet white, but I actually love the wood, so I think i'll keep it natural...I love the smell inside it...Like an old book in the library~ Love that vintage smell.
My little fabric doll that my Twinny brought me a few years back is wearing my 'innocent smoothie' woolly hat~ suits her nicely...perfect fit!
The tooth fairy visited my daughter...her 2nd baby tooth came out~ bless her x
The cabinet with its glass door~ Such a beauty...especially with some vintage florals to add a splash of colour.
My Mother treated myself and twinny to a lovely lunch at a restaurant in Tavistock overlooking the river.
And after the Market we had a lovely Elderflower cordial and passion cake at a sweet coffee shop...
It sure cheered me up getting out in the fresh air...
I've been making a cushion cover...one of 4...
I love having my creative buzz back!...

I always feel so inspired after reading your blog posts. I also studied Textiles but then decided to study Fashion design at Uni. The only time i get creative now is when little pea gets her paints out!! I really miss those days.
ReplyDeleteI remember a while ago you mentioned you were going to be featured in a magazine.....something to do with vintage tea towels? Have I missed out on seeing your lovely work in print?
Good to hear you sounding more upbeat and buzzing to get making! Sounds like you had a perfect mother and daughters day out.

lovely Kazzy, a day out with your family doing nice things is such good therapy! Your display box is a find, I guess it would have been used for fossils or shells or something like that. Nice to keep the wood and looks lovely with the florals. Glad you are feeling that creative buzz! Heather x
ReplyDeleteI also went to the Vintage and Textile Fair! I picked up a couple of bits and pieces there but didn't have time to trawl the charity shops as I usually do. I'm envious of your little cabinet, I love what you have done with it. I wish I had known about the 30% off at the Haberdashery, I would have made time to pop in there too. It is amazing how a little hint of spring sunshine perks us up and sparks our creativity. Enjoy your making, Mrs RV x
ReplyDeleteYour display cabinet looks lovely Kazzy. The fabrics inside look very sweet! Wish I could have been at the fair too.
