Well, it's rather late to start wishing new year wishes, but I will... I hope January has started well for you all here in blogland.
Thank you kindly for your encouraging comments as always. I'm glad blogs are still something people like to look through & read. I find blogs cosy and comforting and the joy of the simple pleasures mainly. So on that note I thought I'd start with 'Friday's favourites'... Little joys of January mainly. In true British style I start with the weather! π Oh hasn't it been a sunny month. Yes OK the odd bursts of rain, but such lovely sun beams too... Some have been rather frosty but bright blue sky! Today I took my mum on a local railway viaduct walk, through hilly fields and country lanes mainly to show her the snowdrops... We stopped for a lovely picnic in the sunshine. Such a lovely, Friday favourite thing to do. ☺️✨π✨π
✨✨⭐πAnother favourite is the skies lately, wonderful cloud formations and sun sets, Pink skies and low Winter sunshine. We walked miles one day, I was feeling proud with my step countππjust over 23,000 steps. I want to walk alot more this year.
✨ππ✨π✨Also enjoying cosy comforts like snuggles on the sofa with granny blankets, good read and hot chocs...
✨πππ✨⭐ My favourite movies this month have been 'Mrs Harris goes to Paris', 'julia julia', 'out of Africa' (seen this film so many times but always enjoy it) and 'Miss Potter' (another favourite). Stevie loves his stand up comedians so often watch them too. He's definitely more into Sci fi, action films that usually when I nod off on the sofa and he has to keep waking me up hehe. Does your partner do that to you?...
✨✨⭐✨πAnother favourite thing to do this month is watch the river, I live right by the River tavy, well a few minutes walk away... It's actually part of my walk routine. I love to follow the river up and along to the park. Even on wet days. The eb and flow helps my well being, so much bird life, wildlife, changes weekly and new wild flower shoots bring comforting thoughts of Spring. The river takes the weight of rains on Dartmoor and sometimes it's mood dramatically changes... I love those stormy swirling, gushing, aggressive river days, so powerful and the noise. So impressive.
✨⭐✨π✨π±⭐π±Another favourite Winter cheer is our National Trust memberships. We do get so much out of our membership as the parking is free and the walks are wonderful especially during winter time when the historic houses are closed until Spring. We went to Saltram and enjoyed the fairy houses lining our walk. The mass of hellebores & snowdrops were beautiful too. Despite feeling frozen that weekend as temperatures dropped dramatically. We literally power walked to keep warm. The stables hold a second hand bookshop it's so well priced. I love looking for vintage books and second hand magazines. I must remember to take some of my books to donate.
π✨⭐π±π§♂️π±✨⭐Another favourite thing to do is paint & work in my junk journals.... I've loved working more with collage pieces and acrylic paints. I'm enjoying 50s pastel shades and working on larger canvas boards. Anyway that's just a small collection of Friday's favourites... I have found over recent years to take January gently, no big life plans or resolutions just one step at a time... And enjoy those simple pleasures.
