🌞Sunshine & showers☔

It's been a month since I last posted so a little catch up...wonderful sunny days exploring meadows in June & Dittisham, Dartmoor, Dartington Estate, Buckfastleigh Abbey Gardens, The new Box museum Plymouth... And especially being in my Summer time garden on the hill top... Life has been full on & busy!

(view from the hill top)... My wonderful apple trees below🌱🍎🌱🍏🌱🍎🌱
We also went for a family trip to Exeter & enjoyed the museum & I loved the bikes in bloom around the city... πŸ’•

I've been giving myself a bit of a break of late, some well needed self care... I won't dwell on the details but I've been struggling emotionally & mentally... Sometimes your body just tells you to look after yourself! A couple of difficult and sad events recently just tipped me too far and after a bit of feeling like I was walking in cement & crying over the slightest thing I suddenly realised I'd hit an all time low. Generally, I'm that up beat, laugh it off, pull my socks up and carry on kind of person. But I couldn't find her inside of me to push me forward with a smile and a little strength.

So instead of letting it beat me I talked to *me*... Kind of talked through to myself why was I struggling... And this really helped me... I realised not everything you can fix or make right, life's not like that. Sometimes you need to focus on what's best for you and your family... And that meant stepping away... And taking time out of situations.

My market town covered in bunting...
We've been enjoying lots of rhubarb crumbles

I'm incredibly lucky to have my kind, thoughtful and loving partner stevie, my rock at times like this. Life does have its ups and downs after all... Its just how you deal with it... Stevie surprised me with yearly passes to the National Trust... What a joy that was... And there's so many beautiful Country homes & Gardens to explore not far from us and also about an hour or two drive away. We took advantage of that this weekend... Cotehele & Lanhydrock....

Glimpses of sunshine & showers...
But everything looks so lush and green.
Wonderful glass mosaic & wicker hare sculptures.
There's more photos over on my Instagram feed. Link in sidebar.
Beautiful gallery ceiling... Lanhydrock.
Today I'm just enjoying the peace & quiet on my day off while stevie at work and sophs at school. I picked a soggy posy from my garden after all the rain...
Take care of you, πŸ’•
I hope the sun is shining where you are too.

πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏJune blooms πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏ

As I type this blog post today all the windows in our cottage are wide open, it's quite hot and I've escaped to the coolness of the bedroom to blog

πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏπŸ’›πŸŒΏ

Its been a really jolly half term week with a couple of adventures... But also we've been busy at home in the garden... Planting up a lot of seedlings I've grown... My stevie was lucky to have this week off due to machinery maintenance where he works and new software systems being updated and fitted. So I've enjoyed having more time to spend with him.

This is my May round up that I add to Instagram too... It was quite a soggy month until the last week or so when the weather changed so suddenly and we had beautiful clear blue skies.

Due to all the rains our Market town river was so high for weeks... Wonderful to walk the lanes and see them start to bloom with life and colour when the sun came...
Church yard bluebells... So much beauty.
We had a wonderful day up on Dartmoor & visiting the Princetown museum... Mainly to see the Moor otter... From the otter trail.
And the beautiful nature gardens too...
Lovely and cool up on the moorlands...
Dupath medieval Well House, 1510 used for quiet prayer and baptism... Near Harrowbarrow, Cornwall.
I do love Market days for fresh veg, bread and plants... But also for new-to-me books and vintage goods...
Stevie took me for a wonderful magical mystery tour to a beautiful Devon village called Dittisham right by the River Dart estuary... I always like those kind of days not really planned just ended up there, but so glad we did. Beautiful lanes filled to the brim with lush greens of cow parsley, pink campion, bluebells and other wild flowers.... Thatched cottages greeted us and the sound of the village church bells.

Rolling hills of Devon... πŸŒΏπŸ’šπŸŒΏ

Just a beautiful blooming June!
Stevie surprised me with two beautiful mugs one foxy and the other a rabbit... 🦊❤️
My perfect spot under the dappled light of the Apple trees reading favourite mags...
I've been taking a little personal break from art these few weeks... Mainly because we've had quite a busy time of late... I do need a certain level of calm amongst the chaos to be arty and creative... I also think the heat doesn't help my creativity. Though, saying that I've started a textile piece but just at the tacking stitches stage of the design of fabrics...so not much really to show. But it's themed around a window looking towards a garden in Spring time. Lots of embroidery to add when I feel like doing it.
Gifts from the garden...
I will leave you with this bright and cheery smile of foxgloves from Cornwall....
