🌿🌞Moments in May🌞🌿

🌿💐🌿💚🌞The weather in Devon this May has been glorious... Blissfully sunny.  I think the Winter felt so long and at times so bleak! So to have the sun rays and blue skies has cheered my soul completely... With my daughter going through stressful exams it's been good to escape it all in the beauty of the Devon countryside & up on the moorlands.

Stevies work has had a weeks holiday while they up date certain steel machinery & softwares. So I've had both my favourite people home with me this week. Sophia has had some extra hours with an English tutor too. So between that we've mainly fitted in local walks as Sophia needs time for revision. I haven't minded at all being local, home or nearby walks. I've spent time in the garden (mainly sorting pots & beds) digging & weeding... Doing household chores and getting up at the crack of dawn to paint with my acrylics on canvas board. 

🌱🌼🌱💛A few weeks ago we took a drive about 40mins to Lanhydrock estate, national trust in Cornwall. It's a beautiful place to explore lots of woodlands, gardens, park land & huge house... Even a thatched cottage & church within the estate. And still lots of bluebells in the woods. We didn't walk around the whole house just the kitchens & larder rooms as it was nust so busy with tourists. 

I loved that the cook was called Mrs Candy!! Great name isn't it. 🤣💕

🌱💛🌱🌿💐🌿The dresser top looked so pretty & cosy with the lamp & candle light, especially with my beautiful tulips from market day that I took a photo of it. I've been busy behind the scenes with house things, paperwork and trying to set up my Etsy shop again. I'm trying to build a collection of art to get bulk printed into prints. I'll get there, eventually. 

🌱💛🌱🌞The Devon country side is so perfectly blissful right now.... 💚And a real inspiration for my imagination to paint.

🌱🌞🌱💚We found a hidden meadow down an overgrown foot path... Isn't it exciting when you discover a new walk way... I love a secret adventure discovering hidden gems. 🌱💚🌱

🌱🌞🌱💛Early morning & early eve walks are my most favourite times... The bird song & sunlight at this time are perfect & peaceful 💚

🌱🌞🌱Meadow & wildflowers are my favourite 🌿💐🌿💚... I always think May & October are the most beautiful months of all.

May bank holiday... My favourite month! And a celebration for my daughter✨⭐... She's been busy with revision and interviews but has been offered an amazing opportunity for an Accountancy apprenticeship starting in july... She is beyond excited and I feel immensely proud of her. She has always worked so hard in top set maths and amazes me everyday. So bright, so beautiful and the kindest soul. She decided in the end A levels just weren't for her and getting training and hands on skills would suit her better. As long as she's happy I'm happy and I will support her either way.  I think back to lock down when I had to help her study maths! What a difficult subject I find it, but she excels. I wish her all the success in the world🌟✨⭐✨🇬🇧✨⭐✨My Coronation illustration... We have just celebrated the King's coronation...  ✨🌟🎉🇬🇧 The BBC filmed the event and it was wonderful to watch on the tv... A special moment for history. I dressed the Shelflings with Royal ephemera & flags...and thought fondly of my childhood with my grandparents who lived in London and would take me to lots of royal celebrations, we'd be waving little flags amongst the crowds of people ... 💗🌟👑🇬🇧✨✨🌟👑🇬🇧🌟👑✨✨🌟🇬🇧👑🌟

Over the May weekend we enjoyed a few lovely trips to Totnes, Avon Mill and Buckland Abbey National trust gardens. Good walks and a lovely picnic... 💚

✨⭐💙✨⭐Beautiful May wildflowers... Bluebells & wild garlic... Blue sky but the weather's been more like April showers. We've had thunder here & today I'm wearing a jumper again. The garden has gone *WILD* for 'No mow May' to help the bee's and wildlife. They love the dandelions especially. But I think I better have a good tidy up of my pots and beds as I've neglected them. The Apple trees on the hilly top part of garden look beautiful, full of blossom.... 

✨⭐✨⭐💚Enjoying getting back into painting on a slightly larger scale, on canvas... May inspires me so much with the lush green landscape here in Devon. I haven't quite finished yet, daily life, busy routines take over... But I will make some time at the weekend. 

✨⭐✨💚✨Beautiful walk around the Buckland Abbey Gardens, estate. National trust... Love seeing all the new shoots and the kitchen garden coming to life... 

✨✨✨⭐💚Local, lovely market town walks along the river bank... Such a beautiful time of year... Taking those little Moments this May to appreciate it✨✨⭐💚🤗

🌱🌷🌱Its been a busy, hectic, fully packed month since I last blogged!. And today we picked up my daughter from her France trip. Everyone here at home looks completely warn to a frazzle this afternoon... I feel sleepy and it's only 5.15pm but I have been up & ready since 6am!. But while the cottage is calm & peaceful I thought I'd take the moment this Easter hols to catch up with a blog post. Where do I start?... We've had many a' headache with work, school, car, home life. I don't think I'll bore you with all that but as usual look at the snippets of joy between all that.... 🌱🌤️🌱💛🌱The promise of lighter, warmer days cheers my soul. I've been enjoying lots of walks. Stevie has enjoyed some well earned time off... Its been wonderful to have extra time with him. We walked to a local farm over a week ago and I came home with some farm eggs, I even think the mix of eggs included a white goose egg. They tasted wonderful ✨🥄🍳🥚

🌱🐰🌱I felt really inspired to paint again. Easter in mind... 💛🐣🐰🥚

🌱🌷🌱🐰🐇I've also been making some junk journal covers, mixed media pages and whimsical junk journal animals using vintage book papers, ephemera, paint, pens.

🌿🌷🌿Visiting mum in Cornwall we had some wonderful walks, we also had such stormy weather followed by hale & blue skies and all in a matter of a few hours. 

🌱🌷🌱✨🌟Beautiful old cottages, remote cornish villages, teeny weeny lanes, rambling fields, blossoming hawthorn. Bird song and blue skies.... 

🌱🌷🌱✨🌟A trip to Antony House, national trust in Cornwall... (some of the estate was used in the Alice in wonderland film)... 

✨🌟🌷🌿🌷✨🌟🐣🐇🐰We definitely fell down a Rabbit hole and landed in wonderland... Such a pretty place to explore this Easter holidays. 

🌱🌷🌱✨⭐The older I get the more I need peace & calm and nature... Its my positive remedy, my happy place. I always feel less stressed after a good walk. Also I can clearly think through my thoughts.

🌱💛🌱Along came March 🌱💛🌱

🌱🌼🌱💛🌱🌼🌱
It's been such a busy few weeks again... Life takes over some weeks, but today Ive had a good sort out & Spring clean and my whole body and mental health seems to have shifted and been uplifted... I'm always in search of little blooms of colour during these cold, dark Winter months. 🌼💛🌼

Although I do feel I have found some quite moments here and there to concentrate on my art I still feel I'm lacking the creative flow... I start, I stop, I daydream, I over analyse and feel disappointment... I think I have so much on my mind. My daughter has been doing pre G. C. S. Es, mocks and been studying, revising hard & feeling very stressed. Her proper exams start in May.   I take on alot of her worries because I see her deeply anxious. After along thought-out chats over the last 3 months I think she's realising & deciding if a better route for her after her final exams would be an apprenticeship rather than 6th form college... But she's still keeping an open mind on options.  To take our mind off things we've had a few trips here & there and also myself & stevie have enjoyed a few rare Fridays together and treated the trips like date nights... We've enjoyed Totnes Market town, Dartington Hall Estate & woodlands, walks on the hilly moorlands towards Pew Tor (epic views) and a Friday afternoon at Buckland Abbey, National Trust. And a few local canal walks... 🌱💛🌱

It was bitterly cold here and climbing Pew  Tor looks beautifully sunny & blue sky but on your hands and face it was bitter. But worth it for the views... I said to Stevie we need to complete some more walks to Tors during Spring when the weather warms up... .. Dartmoor is so beautiful. 🌱💛🌱

Its good to cosy up at home during the freezy temps and on days off... So that's what we did mainly this Sunday... Home comforts. 

I so enjoyed the pretty Spring blooms starting to appear over the national Trust estate at Buckland Abbey... Another busy week but I'm starting it feeling a little more brighter... 💛
