May sunshine & showers....its been a real mixed bag weather wise... But the rain makes the Devon countryside so lush & green. My pots on the hill top & apple trees definitely have come to life in these last weeks.  We enjoyed a wonderful,  almost 9mile hilly walk... I totally dressed for March not May and was spending each few miles pealing off layer by layer cardi & coat. It turned out blooming hot. The Cornish countryside look so beautiful especially all the meadow land towards Calstock & harrowbarrow... We stopped off half way for tea & cakey at the National Trust property of Cotehele... The beautiful medieval property & gardens especially apple orchards are wonderful at this time of year. 

Wonderful place to explore or sit in peace. 💚Bluebells & cowparsley covering the Cotehele estate. 💚

Looking towards the Tamar River... And walking around the gardens & potting shed. Along the Cornish lanes the views were breathtaking I came home from the walk with some cowparsley & pink campion (only a hand full)... 🌱💚🌱

Wonderful May wildflowers cheering up my cottage this week and some new-to-me books and lovely decorative mug... 

Actually, looking over my photos on my phone I've realised how much walking I've been doing... Definitely helps when the weather is bright & the landscape so pretty. But I still keep having naughty bakery treats so I better walk some more tehe. 

I've been enjoying spending time in the garden & listening to the swifts and swollows swooping over the hill top.

The community garden in our market town really is a beautiful sanctuary for me...

So green, so lush... 

So beautiful

Wonderful walks along the canal... The hedgerows alive with bird songs and blossom... The bluebells amongst the cowparsley on the lush, green Devon lanes. 

Found a perfect, secret, peaceful spot for a picnic along the river Bank... On a bit of a mizzly, drizzle of a day one weekend there was a garden show festival in our market town... Lots of wonderful growers, makers, artizans & nursery garden style displays. 

Also an old brass band played under the historical archway buildings hiding from the rains. Lots of local food producers, pasties, mock tails & cream teas... Also live band singers in the late afternoon... 💚

I got my daughter to choose a cactus for her room collection... Her plant babies (miniature ones) 💚🌵

Little hedgehog friends... My whimsical mind on paper... Always thinking up something... 

Love big bows on my little animal friends and frilly Peter pan collars... Seem to start paintings, drawings but never quite complete them lately... We have so much going on behind the scenes of blog life that my minds a little all over the place to concentrate for too long... 

But art is my happy place so I keep pushing myself to try to finish things. 

... And I keep thinking I've not been that creative but I have... Not sure why I keep putting myself down about it, but I think it's because I want more time to create... I do get hours in the week, evenings... But its what I call broken up time... I'll sit, start creating something but then there's a phone call, job needs doing, something I need to pick up or someone needs collecting from an activity. That's life I suppose. But a whole 3 hrs and no interruptions would be marvellous... 

One of my joys is morning creative time... I only get that one morning a week but it feels bliss... Radio on, milky coffee... Morning, Home alone creating... Its a ritual I most enjoy and when I'm most inspired & full of ideas. Even if it's just for a few hours. 

At this time of year when I love being in the garden in my free time or a lovely country, coastal walk I have to juggle that creative time too. I long for my very own little studio that opens onto a garden... Then I'd have the best of both worlds. One day... 💚😌 I'd also like an allotment area too. I think Im day dreaming out loud. Tehe. 

Wonderful weekend adventure to Totnes in Devon... I so love it there. This is the community garden... So pretty. The artizan, colourful, homemade feel of the town set on a hill... Always a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere there... Lots of independent & wonderful shops.

The rains came along this morning but its turned sunny again this afternoon... We did need the rain 🌞🌧️🌞🌧️🌞

✨💛Easter part 2...💛✨

We've managed to squeeze in a few lovely trips on the second week of the Easter hols. Stevie managed to get a week off work holiday time so it's been lovely to just spend some quality family time together... ✨💛✨🌞It's also helped that we had a few really beautiful sunny days...

We explored a few National Trust properties local to us or under half hour drive away (trying our best to keep the petrol price down) Luckily, we have some beautiful, historical buildings near by🌱💚🌱

On Dartmoor is Buckland Abbey... Former residents of Sir Francis drake... We enjoyed a picnic in the gardens where the children were busy looking for hidden eggs on the Easter egg hunt... 🐣✨⭐🐣✨

Exploring the old Abbey, monks barn and Court gardens which where filled with tulips.... 

The heat of the sun in the court yard gardens was wonderful 🌞💛

The next day we headed to Antony House, National Trust in Cornwall, we went on the Torpoint car ferry. I've mentioned it before but some of the Johnny Depp Alice in wonderland was filmed there.... 🐰💛

we took my daughter & her school friend into the city. While they had fun shopping we had a look around the shops too... Afterwards we headed to Saltrum House, National Trust... It was cooler that day... 🌱💚🌱💚🌱💚🌱💚🌱💚🌱💚🌱

It was late afternoon and still very busy... 

But the house was quiet and gave us peace to look round... An amazing house inside... And outside ducks on the large pond🌱🐣🌱

A few little holiday treats... 💛

It's not like I don't have a cubooard full of cups & mugs! But... I do love a niiiiiiice big hot chocolate mug and I've also been de cluttering a lot of old plates and homewares over recent months... I do need to have another sort out though. I loved this pretty floaty top... I'm obsessed with green & reds at the moment... I've never been on trend I just like what I like... And I adored this fair trade hand basket ideal for market day veg and shopping 💚

We kept it local today... A wonderful walk along the old railway viaduct & railway track which is now a country walkway.... We spotted a beautiful hidden hideaway retreat between the trees looking down from a smaller bridge during the walk... The countryside is full of bluebells, just beautiful. 🌱💚🌱💚🌱💚🐰
